WORD OF THE DAY

This is not a word of the day but a rant about qualitative difference between Robbery vs. Burglary. I’m looking at you Seattle media.

OK: The basic difference between burglary and robbery is that burglary involves entering somewhere by stealth with the intent to commit a crime. Robbery is using force or fear to take personal property.

Robbery is defined by Merriam Webster as: the act or practice of robbing; specifically:  larceny from the person or presence of another by violence or threat.

Burglary is defined: as the act of breaking and entering a dwelling at night to commit a felony (as theft); broadly:  the entering of a building with the intent to commit a crime.

Get it? Got it? Good!
